The Karen Dove Cabral Foundation was founded in 2008 by the family and friends of Karen Dove Cabral, who passed away in 2007 after six years of living with breast cancer. See Karen's story by clicking here.
The Foundation is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit corporation dedicated solely to the needs of young mothers with breast cancer. Our assistance helps these mothers and their families as they struggle to coordinate the daily challenges of their treatment and their “real lives.” Our support comes from individual and corporate donors.

How We Help
The Foundation receives patient referrals from NorthShore University HealthSystem Kellogg Cancer Care Centers. We provide assistance with non-covered medical expenses, childcare fees, transportation and lodging while a patient is undergoing treatment. These and similar expenses can add up quickly, placing an enormous burden on a family at a difficult time. We help mothers on a case-by-case basis to identify unmet needs and relieve the burden.
